Tieyan Shang received her formal five-year education in Chinese medicine and western medicine at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, one of the top schools on Traditional Chinese Medicine in the world. After earning her degree in medicine, she continued her education and training in acupuncture analgesia at the Peking University Health Science Center (formerly Beijing Medical University). Three years later, in 1998, she came to the University of Miami School of Medicine, where she spent another three years doing research in prostate cancer and stroke. In addition to her practice of acupuncture in Miami, she currently is an instructor of the Complementary Medicine Program at the University of Miami for continuing medical education for physicians.

Dr. Shang is board-certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and licensed by Florida Department of Health in acupuncture.

The acupuncture clinic located at the classical Coral Gables was established in 1985. It is one of the oldest acupuncture clinics in Miami. It has been featured in local newspapers and given treatment to celebrities.

The clinic in a professional building of lawyers and doctors has three treating rooms, a waiting room, a reception corner, and a doctor's office. It is dedicated to providing acupuncture and individualized herbal formulas for pain, stress conditions, overweight, gynecological dysfunctions and diseases, and many other health problems.

In the clinic, we provide our patients with best-quality materials and herbs. We use disposable, stainless needles for acupuncture. The needles, of trusted brand, are thin, smooth, strong, and flexible. Unlike cheap, poor-quality needles, they do not contain metals such as nickel or copper that may cause delayed allergic reactions (contact dermatitis). The herbs we prescribe for our patients are natural and contain no chemicals. They are manufactured under the regulation (Good Manufacture Practice) of US Food and Drug Administration and shipped to our clinic in vacuum bags from established suppliers.
